No.1 the tabata squat.
I haven't worked out much recently, owing to the holidays. Starting back today. I read in the crossfit startup guide that it was a good idea to have a 'basic proficiency' in squatting before trying anything more advanced, like scaled WODs. So I gave myself the test: tabata squats, achieving at least 12 squats on the 8th and final round.
I honestly didn't think I'd pass, but I did. I scored 13. So I'm ready to start tackling real WOD's tomorrow :)
Happy days, but aching legs. I know from past experience that tabata squats are a world of pain, but nothing quite prepares you for the reality. I can hardly walk properly and I've had 5-10 minutes to recover.

Crossfit warmup, then 10x snatches with 17.5kg dumbells.
Felt I could have done more, but my legs were sore and I don't want to push myself too hard on my first couple of workouts.
Sometimes I think half the rewards of crossfit are in the warmup- consistently doing squats, pushups, situps, back extensions and dips must have quite a bit of benefit.
